Quilts of Hope

Combining Slow Stitching, Embroidery and Quilting, the quilts of hope project embroiders messages of love and hope onto cotton squares.

I am, He is. A quilt made for the Together 25 exhibition

These squares are sewn together into a quilt which is then sent to a safe house for vulnerable women.

It is our hope, that at when a woman needs it, they can wrap themselves in the quilt, read the messages and know they are loved and supported.

We also visit groups to run embroidery workshops

How you can help

If you live near Wakefield we meet on Thursday mornings at the Salvation Army, 4 Vicarage Street, WF1 4QX. Materials are provided and no embroidery skill is needed. Just pop along.

We meet in the church coffee lounge where you can buy hot drinks and bacon/sausage sandwiches.

If you want to make a square cut. 6” square and leave an inch boarder around the square. If you can’t think of a message to embroider a heart shape (the universal symbol for love) is a great idea. Post your finished squares to: Quilts of Hope, The Salvation Army, 4 Vicarage Street South, Wakefield, WF1 4QX.

We welcome donations to make the quilts, each quilt costs up to £80 in materials. However, If you have fabric, sewing threads and embroidery tools you would like to donate for future quilts we would be very grateful.
